The key point i am trying to make john is your man as used the wording taking funds. Anyone reading that can jump to all sorts of ideas. I value my honesty,I for one have met with Peel holdings to discuss the congestion charge.I do not agree with the poeple of this city being taxed again by your party. But i can state i expressed my view and they expressed there view. If you belive i would be part of a party that would do anything less than campaigning to unseat a councillor than you do not know me at all.We have no chance in rogers ward, we will put up a candidate but i think the community group or the conservatives have a very good chance of taking it. I have wished roger the best of luck. And i find peels actions if true disgracefull. If the comments over funding are not removed i will take this matter further. What ever problems you have with norman are none of my concern and i will ask him why no answer was given i am only sorry i was not there to answer you.

Happy Hols John! Holidays are for holidaying... take a complete break from all this 'hogwash' and get a good does of R 'n' R in. As you know I can't stand you - by which I really refer to your politics! - but God forbid you should not get a bit of fun/rest/simple pleasures of life in occasionally! Happy Hols!

Cllr Merry all but illustrates my point it is the 'they said this' which is in reply to 'well they said that' politics which puts off so many.
I would ask him to retract the damning generalisation that the articles on the Salford Labour website makes about the Liberal Democrats and also refrain from any more of the crass comments it makes about the Salford Advertiser and let us engage in real effective political debate.

as I made it clear I am supposed to be on holiday and I am being told that I should not be posting on your blog whilst on holiday! however john mullen feels personally very deeply about the advertiser and there are others who are concerned about the stance it sometimes aooears to take but there are hard working journalists on it.
peel
if there is nothing to hide why did Cllr Owen not come clean like your leader about their involvement. this issue was first brought to my attention by someone not sympathetic to my party who was concerned about what he percieved to be peels attempt to manipulate this election. I felt that a full disclosure as steve often urges would be the best way of dealing with it. I still think so and your party agrees sadly Cllr Owen appears not to share that belief . I believe Cllr Manns point was about that alleged attempt to influence the election. now I had better go before I get reminded again that I am on holiday

While we are at it John, do you support the comments about the Salford Advertiser made on the Salford Labour Party website? As they are unattributed presumably this is the "party line" on the local press...

I am well aware that John Whittaker and Peel are not legitimate donors. I'm not going to accuse the Liberal Democrats of taking money from Peel or anyone without any evidence, and I find the two-faced attitude that Salford Labour are taking towards Peel to be extremely disingenuous.

Do you support the remarks made by Cllr Mann on Wednesday where he compared meeting with Peel to supping with the devil? How does this square with the partnership that your administration has formed with Peel over a number of flagship projects? If you do not want to mix Peel Holdings with the election campaign then will you be instructing your colleagues to remove any references to mediacity:uk from their election literature?

Ian I think you need to have a word with Karen about this. I know she shares my concen. I do not know if you are aware John Whittaker is a resident of the Isle of Man. Joe take a deep breath and try to understand you are in this mess because your leader refused to say whether or not he had met with Peel . If you are able to say that Lib Dems have not then fine but check your facts. Martin I think after the vicious attacks mounted on me and my party over the last few years you have a nerve accusing us of gutter politics . Can I remind you of the great council tax lie last year when you falsely claimed we were the 10th highest council tax in the country and then your party having admitted it was untrue refused to stop distributikg the leaflets.

Whether the Liberal Democrats have met with Peel is a matter entirely for them. They are in a poor fourth in Irlam with a derisory share of the vote, so I very much doubt they are plotting the removal of Cllr Jones with Peel or indeed anyone. Residents in Irlam and Cadishead who want to get rid of their incumbent Labour Councillors would be well advised to vote Conservative.

I am very surprised that Labour consider meeting with Peel to be some sort of taboo, given that they are major partners in some of the Council's flagship projects, most notably of course the development at mediacity:uk.

John, in view of your own personal involvement as Leader of the Council with Peel Holdings, do you agree with Cllr Mann's remarks that dealing with Peel is akin to supping with the Devil?

I am on holiday but I picked this up. you were not present for council in the afternoon so you will not be aware of what happened. Peel have said that they have met with all three parties and both ourselves and the tories stated whatour contacts have been. your leader refused to state what involvement he has had with Peel thus giving rise to concern from both us and the tories. I would suggest to avoid people drawing conclusions that a full disclosure is desirable.

Ian

I know we are both educated men and hopefully come May a sign of a change in the makeup of Salford Councillors. Are you like me tired of the same old politics of the Salford Labour party. Every May when election time roles around the big red machine is awoken and the gutterall politcs start.
