Some more well-deserved publicity for St George’s RC High School this week – see the Advertiser report and Channel M. What I don’t understand is why the Labour Councillors were so reticent to meet with Justice4Georges. I understand that Council employees need to be careful during an election period, but the Council Cabinet have no such restrictions.
It is a real shame that neither Cllr Merry nor Cllr Warmisham have at any point during the BSF process had the courage to stand up and talk to parents, staff and pupils at St George’s. They will not visit the school, they ducked every single consultation event and now they won’t even step outside the Town Hall to talk. Not good enough.

err rather difficult to “step outside the town hall” as I was in london at the time and the first the officers knew about it was when the press contacted them. As you well know there are legalities to be observed around election time
err as I was not in the town hall but in london it would have been rather difficult to “step outside the town hall”and the first the officers knew about it was when they were contacted by the press not the school
I entirely agree Iain. I’m glad we have a handful of decent councillors in Salford [the Conservatives] to stand up for Salfordians and St. George’s and to expose the contempt for the public and the cowardice of The Two Johnnies.
Why do these cowards refuse even to meet with the ordinary people of Salford whose schools they so casually seek to destroy? These Labour leaders are pathetic beyond belief!
The law is a convenient fig-leaf being inappropriately used to hide political cowardice.
can we be really clear about this. at no point did they ask to meet us. all that happened is that an officer took a call from the Bolton evening news to say they planned to enter the town hall and offer roses to people. Thatt officer took the view rightly as it turned out that this was not not some innocent gesture but was part of a wider political campaign. All three group leaders were subsequentlu briefed and raisex no objection. Finally steve the point I made was that that as I was not there and they had not seen fit to inform anyhody other than the media of their intentions It was not going to be possible to “step outside” to meet them.
