This coming Saturday (23rd August) there’s an open day at Agecroft Fire Station on Bolton Road in Pendlebury. It’s a great opportunity to get a glimpse of the service and the excellent work that our firefighters and staff do. Click the link for more details – hope to see you there!

Since when did we get demoted to a borough! Obviously the Tory/ liberal administration does not care about Salford!
As far as I’m aware that name was chosen long ago under the previous Labour administration…
I think the sub-areas have always been called boroughs – they haven’t always been coterminus with local authority boundaries and in one instance (Manchester) they still aren’t.
It was a great idea, kids enjoyed it. Do you have any other open days in other fire stations?
Enjoyed the day. It was a pleasure to meet the fire service personel who carry out their tireless efforts daily and often in the face of agression of those whose area they arive to help.
Hope to see more open day events like this and hopefully similar weather.
Irene – fire stations open days happen quite regularly but I don’t think they are on any sort of “planned programme”. There was an open day at Farnworth Fire Station a couple of weeks ago. I will ask the Borough Commander if there are any further open days planned – I’m glad you enjoyed the day.
Incidentally John (and I know your comment was tongue-in-cheek) having thought about what you said, it’s also perfectly possible to be both a City and a Borough at the same time, as indeed was the case with Salford from 1926 until 1974…
