I spoke to Private Eye and they said the £6,000 is for four hours weekly of pencil sharpening, paperclip counting, submitting comments to Iain Lindley’s blog and saying to the Great Leader at every opportunity, “Yes Sir, three bags full sir!”

Just thinking. When I said it’s worth six-grand, that’s for what? I mean, if it were for a nominal (say) four hours work a week, then that’d actually be the equivalent of sixty grand in a full-time job; so they must be pretty responsible positions.

I wonder if anyone at Private Eye knows what they do? I think we should be told.

Sorry to be a pain, but could you just remind me again what an ‘Executive Support Member’ does? Obviously a pretty responsible position as it’s worth six grand; but I just can’t seem to lay my hands on the explanation on the website. Or is it just me?

I will of course be pointing out the falseness of the figures but then I am a little surpised that the Conservative Party now thinks Private Eye is a bastion of truthfullness! Thank you for your compliment and anyone who cannot stomach Simon Heffer cannot be all bad
