I’ve spent most of today out and about with Conservative colleagues talking to local residents about the congestion charge and TIF bid – this morning in Eccles and this afternoon a bit closer to home in Walkden.
We received an excellent reception and local residents from all parts of the City were keen to talk to us about their concerns. There is a lot of anger about the proposed congestion charge tax and the lack of benefit for Salford residents in the TIF bid was also pointed out by many shoppers.
We managed to collect hundreds of signatures for our petition in both Eccles and Walkden, and even the rain helpfully stayed away for the duration!
