Today’s Council Meeting started at 9.30am and did not finish until around 6.30pm. I’ve been out this evening so I’m sure you will forgive me for not updating this blog properly until the morning. Goodnight!

The November Council Meeting starts later this morning, and the two upheld call-ins sit atop what is a very full agenda. I wouldn’t like to be in Councillor Merry’s shoes today but of course his problems are entirely of his own making.
In many ways the Council Leader is in a lose-lose situation. If the two decisions – the pink rink and the spending on LIFE in Salford – are approved, then he will have forced through unpopular and bad decisions by putting his backbenchers under the screw. If they are voted down, his authority is shot to pieces, even more than it is already. The choice is yours, John.
