He should stick at what he does best which is managing Man United. As a life long red (Man U!)thank goodness he doesn't apply socialist principles to that or we would never be successful.

Iain,

a man who manages a team that mostly live outside the Tif/Con zone and drive some of the most expensive, fuel consuming cars (more than one a player) to comment on the issue made me laugh.
given Utd's ticket increases over recent years, I suppose they could have taken example from the bus companies.

Cannot understand why SIR Alex would have an opinion considering he does not have a vote - he lives in Cheshire, but probably wants to make sure there is plenty of space on the road for his big Bentley when he needs to get to Old Trafford. The only thing I can see in common is that he is a SIR. The other prime movers in this bid are also Sirs. Sir Howard Bernstein, Sir Dicky Leese and dont forget the returning officer is Sir Neil McIntosh. We have a Lord as well - Wigans very own Lord Peter Smith, they have all been very vocal in promoting this unfair stealth tax

I am a United fan as well Iain, i have all my life.
But Sir Alex getting behind this, is typical of the Champagne Socialist attitude this man has.
While i have complete gratitude to him, as Manager of the club i love.
I shake my head at his sell out priciples, which are so far from the days he was a shop steward in Govern.
He couldn't care less about people who will suffer, if this new tax con is brought in to place.
as it wont be the likes of Sir Alex who will be worrying about paying this £6 daily cost, but the workers in the clubs shop who will.
