Barbara Keeley – No Rebellions

I have been reading the excellent paper produced by revolts.co.uk about the voting behaviour of Labour MPs in Parliament over the last session. For anyone with a vague interest in Parliamentary politics, whatever your political persuasions, it’s an interesting read.

I do note, however, that the name of Worsley MP Barbara Keeley does not appear at all. Is she really happy with everything that this Labour Government have done since her election in 2005?

For the purposes of comparison, Eccles MP and local boy Ian Stewart has rebelled 5 times in the same period.

Perhaps it’s because she is (was) a whip? They don’t speak in the Commons and are responsible for getting party members to vote for the Government program. I’d say convention requires a whip not to rebel. Hardly something to attack Barbara on, she’s a good local MP!
