Only A Few Days Left To Vote

The deadline for voting in the C-Charge/TIF referendum is this coming Thursday, 11th November. Ballots must be with the returning officer by 10pm on that date, so if you have yet to vote then please do so as quickly as possible to make sure that your vote is counted. On Thursday 11th November only you can hand your voting paper in at some (but not all) libraries across the City between 7am and 10pm. These are Walkden, Eccles, Irlam, Broadwalk and Broughton.

I have returned my ballot paper already and I have voted no, and I urge local residents both here in Walkden and across the City of Salford to do the same. The congestion charge is a regressive tax that will cost residents up to £1200 per annum of their hard-earned cash and will hit those road users who can least afford to pay the hardest. Meanwhile the transport improvements planned for the Walkden area – and for that matter the whole of west Salford – are at best peripheral and at worst will actually see reductions in services.

If you have already voted in the referendum, thank you for voting and participating. If you have yet to vote, please use your ballot wisely!
