Walkden Global College

Yesterday I received a large package in the post. It’s the detailed plans for the proposed Walkden High School build. I’m going to go through it with a fine toothcomb, but what strikes you immediately is the name on all the documents – not Walkden High School but “Walkden Global College”.

I don’t know whether this is kite-flying or a solid proposal to change the name permanently, but as a first impression I’m not convinced by it as a name.

    Hi,
Is the going to be the definite name for the new walkden high school or is this just a idea.

    Thanks
    Josh

There will be a new name but Wlkden Global College is one the preferred bidder used in his bid proposal. Their idea is that it is in Walkden; global represents the ‘global village’ concept particulary as WHS is a Language College with 21st Century ICT.

Salford are missing a chance to rebrand their new schools with a name that represents what the modern High School can do.

There will be a new name and the community will have an opportunity to have its say. Have you any suggestions? I think we should start with a change to Worsley.

Not sure what’s worse, that name or the new name for Hope High School, Oasis Academy, makes it sound like a travel agents…

Oasis uk is the sponsor of the school or academy so you can’t do much about that.

Is this the school that wrote off a deficit at our expense as they moved to being an academy or was that another?

    One and the same, Aled.

    TLP’s website is here: http://www.tlp.org/
Good job it’s not a ‘Technology’ College then!

On reflection there’re numerous organisations hiding beforea ‘TLP’ acronym ..so that website may not be them!
