There’s a public meeting in Irlam tonight (9th December), organised by local residents opposed to the Labour Council proposal to bulldoze the Barton Moss green belt to create an industrial park.
The meeting is being held at Irlam Social Club on Cutnook Lane. All local residents are welcome and the meeting starts at 7pm. Hope to see you there!

A Government Too Cowardly To Say It Straight
Britain’s budget deficit is the worst of any developed economy, and we will be the last G20 country out of recession. We are heading for a national debt of £1.4 trillion – £23000 for every child born today.
One might have expected, then, that today’s Pre-Budget Report would see the Chancellor to set out some clear measures to reduce the deficit. We got nothing of the sort – instead we got cheap points, partisan political positioning, and the deferment of tough decisions that we need to take now until after the General Election. This Labour Government got us into this mess, and they are now ducking the responsibility.
The British people will not be taken for fools, and the Government ought to be honest with them about the sheer scale of the mess that Labour have created. Only the Conservatives are prepared to be open and honest with the country and take the difficult decisions required – strong leadership to take the tough decisions now, and a positive vision for the future when we are out of recession.
We need that change now, more than ever.
