Worsley & Eccles South is a new Parliamentary constituency which will come into effect at the next General Election, following boundary changes.  It takes in parts of the old Worsley and Eccles constituencies.

Worsley & Eccles South is a varied seat covering many communities, and takes in the nine Local Government wards of Little Hulton, Walkden North, Walkden South, Worsley, Boothstown & Ellenbrook, Winton, Barton, Irlam and Cadishead.

Although Worsley & Eccles South is a notionally Labour seat, at the last local elections, Conservative candidates outpolled Labour by 12%. Recent polling suggests that the constituency will be a close contest between local Conservative Councillor Iain Lindley and Gordon Brown’s Labour candidate from Sale.

The Liberal Democrats are a poor third and have no Councillors in the constituency. Local residents in Worsley & Eccles South have a clear choice between five more years of Gordon Brown and a fresh start with local Conservative Iain Lindley – a vote for anyone other than Iain just helps Labour sneak back in!
