About Iain

Hello there, and thanks for visiting my website!

I’m Iain Lindley and I’m Conservative Councillor for Walkden South on Salford City Council, along with my ward colleague Councillor Les Turner.

I grew up here in Walkden, attending James Brindley Primary School, Walkden High School and Eccles College before graduating from the University of York.

I’ve been a Councillor for Walkden South since June 2004, and I was re-elected in May 2007 and May 2011. In 2010 I stood as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the new Worsley & Eccles South constituency, securing an 8% swing from Labour and slashing the majority from over 10000 to just 4000 in what has traditionally been a safe Labour area.

I was appointed to the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Authority in 2008 and IĀ served as the Chairman of the Human Resources Committee in 2010/11. I sit on the Sustainable Regeneration Scrutiny Committee at the town hall, and I am the opposition spokesmanĀ for planning issues.
